ADE participated to the 2009 International Conference of the Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) in Canberra, Australia. This evaluation society is the primary professional organisation in Australasia for people involved in evaluation with almost 1000 members involved in all aspects of evaluation and performance measurement.

ADE contributed actively to this Conference on September 1 with a presentation on “Evaluating channelling of aid by the European Commission through the United Nations family, the Workd Bank and the European Investment Bank”

In his presentation Dr Edwin Clerckx, ADE director in charge of Evaluation, showed how the methodology used for thematic or sector evaluations could also be applied with specific adjustments to evaluation of the practice of channelling funds through other international organisations, and allowed drawing out of useful conclusions. The presentation was based on ADE’s experience with two strategic evaluations on this subject conducted for the European Commission’s EuropeAid Cooperation Office.
