The European Commission’s cooperation with Nicaragua has represented more than €300m during the period 1998-2008. ADE has recently carried out an evaluation of this aid on demand of the EC. It presents notably findings and conclusions on the past cooperation, and recommendations for improving future EU cooperation.

The EC’s Joint Evaluation Unit rated this evaluation as “very good”, which is an exceptional appreciation. It praised in particular its approach for assessing Budget Support. It also valued specifically its sections on Rural Development and the conclusion on the Linkage between Relief, Rehabilitation and Development (LRRD).
